The Horror in Stone

There sailed a ship, many moons ago,
When I was not yet in this land;
The crew was proud and brave as could be,
But they had found what they did not understand:
‘T was a gigantic statue made from stone,
Of a creature ne’er before known to man,
With humungous limbs like a dragon; aye!
And black tentacles like the great sea squid,
And arms that bore long, sharp claws,
And eyes that see but care not a whit;
It had two black wings like the bat
Reaching forth from its shoulders, too.
They stopped somewhere to ask the creature’s name;
The name they heard was Cthulhu.
Romantic style poem about the Cthulhu statue.
Thanks to almostwhitey for matching my literary style.

=Shelley.
